Talk  11/06/26 – Colour: Understanding the Deception

Jane taught in London art schools for over 50 years, including at Goldsmiths, Central School of Art & The City & Guilds and is a silk screen and textile artist. She wrote her book Basic Colour – A Practical Handbook, in 2008 and was first invited to give this talk by the National Gallery in July 2014, to coincide with an exhibition on colour.

Since then she has presented it to the Bruton Art Society (June 2015), at various London art schools, in a private art gallery in France, at the Friends Meeting House in Winchmore Hill (November 2022) and most recently to the Law Society’s Art Group.

After the talk and Q&A time, Jane will go through the basics of colour theory and terminology. You will be given three pages of notes, to which you can add items of particular interest to you.
As much information as possible will be made available to encourage further individual experimentation and research.

Jane runs practical weekend Colour Courses from her home in Winchmore Hill three or four times a year, for small groups (maximum number of participants, five).
